Gavins Mobile Mechanic
Gavin's Mobile Mechanics

Gavin’s Mobile Auto Care started out as a mobile mechanical repair service, and I am still happy to provide this service today. Working by myself means that I don’t really specialise in breakdowns or emergency repairs, although I will always try to accommodate my valued regular customers in an emergency.

I offer a Mobile Service to the Northern beaches, Redlynch, Cairns and areas south of Cairns down to and including White Rock.

Mobile Safety Certificates (RWC):

I am licenced to carry out Safety Inspections on light vehicles (LV) and light trailers (LT) and am also authorised to carry out Certificates of Inspection (COI).

In Queensland you are required to get a safety inspection on your car when you want to sell it, re-register it or transfer the registration to another entity. As an authorised inspection station, I will ensure that your car meets all the requirements of a roadworthy vehicle and have you back on the road in no time. If your vehicle does not meet all the requirements, then I will provide you with a detailed Repairs Needed report of what you need to get fixed to pass and a general idea of the cost involved for me to fix it.

If the repaired vehicle is brought to my workshop within 14 days for re-inspection, then I can re-inspect your vehicle at no additional cost. If you require my Mobile Service to re-inspect your repaired vehicle, extra call-out charges will apply to the 2nd inspection. If your vehicle is not repaired within the 14day deadline, then you will not be able to register your car and you will need to pay for a second Safety Certificate inspection.

Pre-Purchase Inspections:

Pre-purchase inspections are a good idea if you are buying a used car privately. Australian Consumer laws do not give customers much protection for private sales, so you want to be as knowledgeable as possible about what you are buying. Knowing of any pre-existing problems that may need fixing in the car can help you to avoid the purchase altogether or negotiate with the seller for a fairer price.

Gavin’s Mobile Auto Care offers pre-purchase inspection services to the Northern beaches, Redlynch. Cairns and areas south of Cairns, as far south as White Rock. Gavin is a fully qualified mechanic with many years of experience in the industry and has built a solid reputation for being reliable, honest and affordable. When it comes to purchasing a used vehicle, a pre-purchase inspection could save you a lot of money – Gavin will look under the hood for you and give you his professional opinion about the condition of the vehicle. For more information about Gavin’s pre-purchase inspection services, give him a call on 0418156253.

On-site car servicing:

Gavin’s Mobile Auto Care (0418 156 253) offers mobile, on-site services to the Northern Beaches, Redlynch, Cairns and areas to the south of Cairns as far as White Rock. Gavin’s mobile service requires that you provide a safe, dry, flat area away from traffic, with plenty of shade and preferably an electrical outlet. The side of the road is not an option!

Gavin is happy to carry out the following types of service on-site:

  • Logbook services
  • Minor services
  • Major service (Please see our CAR SERVICING page for more details).

If, upon inspection, there are more problems that show up than can be fixed on site, then you can organise with Gavin to get your car taken to his fully-equipped workshop at 2/454A Sheridan Street North Cairns, or he can order the necessary parts and return to complete the job.

Diagnostics:

With over 25 years of experience repairing cars, Gavin is very skilled at being able to diagnose most problems, but as newer cars have become more computerised it has become necessary to have more sophisticated diagnostic equipment. Gavin has modern equipment to help him diagnose the fault codes that your engine management system is sending. Some diagnostics require more time and may require your vehicle to be taken to the workshop. Call Gavin on 0418 156 253.

Log Book Service:

Maintaining your vehicle’s logbook is crucial to ensuring vehicle reliability and value when you decide to trade it in. A logbook service follows the specifications stated by the manufacturer to meet warranty requirements. Depending upon the requirements of the logbook service you need at this time, you may need to bring the vehicle to the workshop, since some logbook services are more complicated than others.

Some standard logbook service inclusions are:

  • Replacing oil and filters
  • Checking the battery
  • Safety Inspection
  • Brake service
  • Checking tyre pressure
  • Checking lights
  • Reporting on your vehicle’s overall mechanical condition
